Natural Cooling & Terracotta Sweating

Terracotta is naturally porous. Tiny pores in the clay allow a small amount of moisture to reach the outer surface and gradually evaporate. This natural evaporation can help keep the water inside pleasantly cool.

Because of this process, you may notice moisture, condensation or “sweating” on the outside of the jug. This is a natural characteristic of genuine terracotta and not a defect.

We recommend placing the jug on a coaster, tray or water-resistant surface, particularly during the first few uses.

About the Lid

The handmade terracotta lid is designed to rest over the jug opening. Due to the handcrafted nature of clay products, the lid is not airtight, locking or leak-proof and may have slight movement when placed on the jug.

Each jug is individually shaped, fired and painted by hand. Natural variations in clay colour, dimensions, surface texture, firing marks and painted detailing are expected.
